Firmware Update - MEGA Live Imaging v. 1.300 for SOLIX and APEX

Software Description

IMPORTANT SOFTWARE UPDATE NOTES:

  • Head unit software MUST be installed BEFORE installing any accessory software.
  • Note that MEGA Live version 1.300 or newer should be installed on MEGA Live transducers to use software version 4.210 on APEX and SOLIX.

Summary of features/issues that have been addressed in v1.300:

  • Improved bottom stability compensation (IMU/AHRS) performance. This improves MEGA Live in rough water and while using the trolling motor. 

Firmware Update 1.300 (Latest)

  • For the best image from MEGA Live in most water conditions use the default settings:

    • Dynamic Contrast: Balanced
    • Sensitivity*: 10
    • Contrast**: 10

  • If you are in shallow water or if you’re experiencing clutter on your screen try:

    • Dynamic Contrast: High
    • Sensitivity*: 10
    • Contrast**: 10
       
  • If you are in deeper water and are looking for increased bait tracking performance try:
    • Dynamic Contrast: Low
    • Sensitivity*: 10
    • Contrast**: 10

*Sensitivity will decrease or increase the apparent signal strength of all of the returns on the screen. Always start at 10 and then increase or decrease as needed.

**Contrast will decrease or increase the separation in apparent signal strength between stronger and weaker returns. Lower contrast values will help when trying to track smaller baits or targets while Higher contrast values will help remove clutter from the screen.

Software Prerequisites

Personal computer with Internet access, a formatted 32GB or smaller SD memory card, and a USB Memory Card Reader. 

In addition to this MEGA Live software update, users must first install the latest version of control software for compatible HELIX, SOLIX or APEX models.   Failure to install the head unit software first can cause issues with the MEGA Live update not successfully processing or could cause sonar performance issues that will remain until all updates are performed successfully.The TargetLock features cannot be used without successful completion of these updates.   

Instructions

  1. After installing the appropriate update to your compatible Humminbird unit, download the update file to an SD card.
  2. Insert a SD card with the new MEGA Live Software
  3. Go to the Files tool on the Home Screen
  4. Select the new MEGA Live software from the list and select Install. You will see an Updating screen as the SOLIX/APEX transfers the update to the MEGA Live.
  5. Once the updating screen disappears, do not pull the card out, restart the SOLIX/APEX, or restart the MEGA Live.
  6. Wait until the MEGA Live disconnects and then reconnects with the new software version displayed in the Files Tool. This process could take up to 8 minutes!
  7. Confirm that the software is updated on the Home/Network/Network Info menu.
  8. Remove the SD card with the update once the update is complete.
