As a reminder, this software is intended for use with Bluetooth enabled i-Pilot Link products. The only way to update an i-Pilot motor or remote is through a smartphone with the i-Pilot app installed. This app can be found at the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.
Software Prerequisites & Instructions for updating with a Humminbird unit and SD card:
There are two files in this zipped folder. One file for HELIX networkable products, and one for SOLIX, ONIX, and ION. Your Humminbird unit will recognize the appropriate file once you have unzipped the file according to the instructions.
- Turn on the main power source for your compatible Humminbird unit.
- Power on the trolling motor.
- Turn on the remote by pressing the OK key. Ensure the battery is well charged. If the battery charge is not sufficient, you will be prompted during the process to plug in the charger.
- Turn on the fish finder by pressing the POWER/LIGHT key, and follow the on-screen prompts to start Normal mode.
- Press and hold the fish finder VIEW key. Select System > Accessory Test.
- Confirm that i-Pilot Link is listed as connected. It may take a minute for the equipment to be detected. you will refer to this view thoughout the update. Note the current software version number shown next to i-Pilot Link.
NOTE: If the Accessory Test View is not shown in the submenu, select Main Menu > Views > Accessory Test > Visible.
Instructions
- These files has been zipped. The zipped file contains software for APEX, SOLIX, HELIX, ONIX, and ION products. Your Humminbird unit will recognize the appropriate file to be used to update your Minn Kota i-Pilot Link.
- Save the zipped file to your PC (this will most likely be saved in your Downloads folder)
- Once saved to your PC, right click on the file name and select Extract All.
- Once this dialog box appears, click on Extract, this will then begin the extraction and saving process. Be sure to remember the destination of the file
- You will then have two folders with the same name, one is zipped, the other is unzipped. Open the unzipped filed.
- Once you open the unzipped folder, copy and paste these files to the SD card you plan to utilize for the update (usually called "removable drive" on your computer).
- Plug the SD card into your fish finder. The fish finder will recognize the new software. Follow the dialogue box instructions to confirm software installation.
- The software will be updated automatically to your i-Pilot Link system. It may take up to two minutes for the software to be detected on the network, and the fish finder will display on-screen dialog boxes to indicate that the update is in progress. NOTE: You may notice that the i-Pilot Link will disconnect and then reconnect and possibly reboot during the software update. This is part of the update process.
- When the i-Pilot Link software has been updated, the new software version number will be displayed on the Fishfinder Accessory Test View.
- To finish, you also need to update the i-Pilot Link remote by proceeding to the System>Update Software screen on the remote.
